Meet the Future YOU are Supporting!
In 2017, the first-ever emergency medicine residency program was started in Maputo, Mozambique. This four-year program will graduate physician specialists trained in managing emergency medical care. The graduates will have the knowledge and skills to run an emergency department, direct pre-hospital care, and educate and train other physicians, nurses, and technicians in state of the art, evidence-based emergency care that is appropriate to these low-resource settings.
This investment in the training of these young, dedicated, pioneering physicians will have ripple effects that will impact the health and well-being of hundreds of thousands – or more – Mozambicans in the to decades come.
Volunteer
We have an ongoing need for volunteers both in Mozambique and volunteers based elsewhere who can support our work. Volunteer skills that are needed include:
- Physician-educators (both on the ground and via tele-lectures)
- Nurse-educators
- Fundraising development
- Social media and communications coordination
- A variety of other task-related skills; please reach out to us if you have skills you think might be useful
