Emergency medicine in Mozambique

Currently there is no emergency medical system in Mozambique. Precious seconds, minutes, and hours are lost during emergencies, because no immediate medical care is available.

When a patient has an emergency, it is almost always up to them to decide where to seek treatment and to find transportation. As a result, the vast majority of patients die before they can even reach a medical facility for treatment.

PLeDGE Health is teaming up with partners at the Ministry of Health, local healthcare leaders at district and central hospitals, and with academic leaders to bring a solution to this challenge.

Together, we are training the first ever Mozambican specialists in emergency medicine, working with hospitals to improve patient flow and secure safe and effective patient transfers and to structure a pre-hospital system to get patients to care before it is too late!
